The Texas Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) will decide by December 15, 2011 on the proposed Medicaid rate reductions. Cuts to Medicaid will put thousands of children and people with disabilities at risk for loss of services, as these two populations account for 90% of all Medicaid recipients. Significant Medicaid rate reductions impact all therapists, as many therapy practices which focus on these populations could close.
It is crucial that the community and therapists contact their legislators about the proposed rate reductions. Please join us in voicing opposition to Medicaid rate reductions and sharing how therapy is a vital service that saves the state thousands of dollars by preventing costly hospitalizations and complications.
Please contact your legislators by Thursday, December 15, 2011.
More information on the proposed rate reduction, including sample letters to send to the LBB, HHSC and legislators, can be found here.
